Course Overview

Enter the world of custom design with the MSF20122 Certificate II in Furnishing (Picture Framing specialisation). This hands-on qualification builds practical skills in crafting bespoke frames, preparing and preserving artwork, and confidently using industry tools and materials—giving you a strong foundation to launch your career in the furnishing and design industry.
Through nationally recognised units of competency, you will build practical industry skills in:

Measuring, cutting, and joining timber mouldings for custom framing

Handling and cutting glass, glazing materials, and decorative mat boards

Artwork mounting, frame assembly, and professional finishing techniques

Workplace safety, teamwork, packaging, and workshop operations skills

Pathways

This qualification supports pathways into employment as a picture framer or assistant in framing studios, galleries, retail framing businesses, or related furnishing and design roles. 

Further education pathways include MSF30518 Certificate III in Picture Framing as well as higher-level qualifications in furniture design, interior design, and advanced furnishing and construction-related training.

Assessment includes practical tasks, projects, observations, and written questions

Timetable

The course is delivered over two years with structured weekly classes.

Year 1 classes are conducted on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Year 2 classes are conducted on Thursdays.
