
Course Overview
Step into the world of design and craftsmanship. This hands-on program introduces you to the core skills and techniques used across the furnishing industry, giving you the opportunity to design, create, and build your own projects using industry-standard tools and materials.
Through nationally recognised units of competency, you will build practical industry skills in:
Furniture construction and project-based woodworking
Safe use of professional hand tools and woodworking machinery
Kitchen, bathroom, and laundry design principles
Environmentally sustainable work practices and industry-standard safety procedures

Assessment Methods
Assessment includes practical tasks, projects, observations, and written questions.
Scored assessment is available for students undertaking the Units 3 and 4 sequence of the VCE VET Furnishing program.
Timetable
The course is delivered over two years with structured weekly classes.
Year 1 classes are conducted on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Year 2 classes are conducted on Thursdays.

Pathways
This program provides a solid foundation for students looking to pursue a career in the furnishing and construction industries. Graduates can progress into apprenticeships or entry-level roles such as cabinet maker, furniture maker, or shopfitter, working across residential and commercial projects.
Further education pathways include MSF30322 Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology as well as higher-level qualifications in furniture design, interior design, and advanced furnishing and construction-related training.
