MSF20113 Certificate II in Furnishing
This certificate course is carried out at Catholic Regional College Sydenham in the Trade Training Centre. As well as a workshop where the majority of training is undertaken there is also a retail store, Frames@CRC.
Course Description
- The aim of the VET Furnishing (Picture Framing) program is to:
- Provide participants with the basic essentials of Picture framing in this specialist area
- Train them to put together and join picture frame moldings, mount artwork and handle glazing materials
- Gain competence in accurately measuring and performing calculations, as well as use hand held power tools
- Provide students with the skills to communicate with colleagues and customers as well as working effectively in a team.
Qualification Outline
To be awarded the MSF20113 Certificate II in Furnishing, competency must be achieved in fourteen (14) units of competency.
- five (5) core units of competency
- Select up to nine (9) elective units from Groups A and B as specified below
- Group B allows
- A maximum of three (3) relevant units may be selected from:
- units not previously selected from Group A
- units from Group B
- relevant units from this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses, where those units are available at Certificate II or Certificate III level
These are the units selected by Catholic Regional College Institute of Training based on feedback from industry.
7 Group A units have been selected to tailor this course to picture framing. Two units have been imported under the rules allowed by Group B.

Course Delivery
This certificate course is delivered by CRCIT. To maximize your learning opportunity it is strongly recommended that you attend every session of the course. Students who are continuously absent may receive a N (Not Satisfactory) result for the unit of study or failure to abide by this commitment may also result in their withdrawal from the program.
Structured Workplace Learning
Students will be expected to work in the Trade Training Centre’s Picture Framing shop (Frames@CRC) and in the workshop. They will be actively involved in dealing with customers, sales and production of orders from the general public as well as orders from other businesses.
Entry requirements and pre-requisites
There are no formal entry requirements or pre-requisites for this course. However students will be expected to demonstrate an aptitude for and interest in the furnishing industry.
